Reviewstation.com review of 'thirty pieces'

Written by Mike SOS
Devil To Pay have got that gritty stoner rock sound down to a science, aptly showcased on the Indianapolis-based foursome's 11-track endeavor, THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER. Armed with the type of snarling guitars and groove-laden rhythms that you'd find on an Alabama Thunderpussy or Karma to Burn collection, Devil To Pay's homage to the heavy is as straightforward as it gets. The simplistic yet steamrolling riffs embellished with a coat of doom found in such tracks as "Whores of Babylon", "Lowest Common Denominator" and "Tractor Fuckin' Trailer" deserve the double horned hand salute, while the churning rhythms found on such killer tracks as "The New Black" and "Angular Shapes" can be traced back to bands like COC, Down, and Life of Agony. Devil To Pay is here to infuse some much needed sludge into the stagnant rock scene, and THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER is the kind of album that can bowl over anything currently heard on the radio.
