Devil to Pay - Thirty Pieces of Silver

Devil to Pay is a full blown driving rock/metal act that really likes to play those strong medium tempo'd rockers quite a bit...you know, the kind of hard driving tune that sounds like a diesel truck chugging up the side of a mountain...a tall mountain.

Well anyhow- these cats rock. A tight four piece dual guitar unit that is full of blues doom riffs, thick grooves and crunchy guitars. Vocals are nice and strong, soulful and right out front. Similar to the way John Garcia wails...from the balls if you know what I mean. The whole band is one tight rehearsed unit- with tastefully overdriven guitars that chug along with an occasional blues lead thrown in from time to time; in that respect it reminds me of something between Candlemass/Solitude Aeturnus and Karma to Burn.

These guys are a driving doom drenched bar band. They have their moments that remind me of southern sludge and then the next song will be more along the lines of Acid King rather than Corrosion of Conformity. They have thick good melody lines, catchy riffs and a good variety of all that is heavy. Definitely more on the catchy side of music as far as heavy music goes. You will find yourself instantly swinging your head to the beat.

Pretty simple writing on Thirty Pieces of Silver, but tastefully done. Get this one if you like Acid King, Karma to Burn, COC, Lost Goat, Abdullah, Dixie Witch, Solitude Aeturnus...this will definitely get the 'up to 11' treatment around here:)
