Strickle.com review of "thirty pieces"

After releasing a 7" split with Mantis on Red Wax, 'Devil To Pay' comes out, end of 2003, with their first full length 'Thirty Pieces Of Silver' on Benchmarkrecords. These four gents feature a heavy doom like version of biker rock with attitude and bears included. Devil To Pay won in August 2003 the 'Battle Of The Bands' and won a pretty sum of prize money. Well deserved because the songs on 'Thirty Pieces Of Silver' are a mean set of rock riffs caught on silver. The sound in general has a fat dry dark edge, drowning with doom, hence the reference. I'm having trouble referencing the band with another, but carefully i would suggest something like Cathedral. But the band has a sound to different to call it a true reference. Devil To Pay is melodically a very powerful band from vocals to the music. Currently touring like mad, a band that's guaranteed for a heavy night out.
