Tangerinemagazine.com review of 'thirty pieces'

Devil to Pay: Thirty Pieces of Silver CD (Benchmark Records)

Stoner doom with some uptempo rockin' time signatures for good measure, so to speak. There's nothing really groundbreaking or unique going on here, but it's still worth a listen. Nothing to rave and slobber over, but also nothing to complain about. These guys can play, even if their sound seems a little paint by numbers in places. They may be heavier than Satan's nutsack live, however. I definitely get the impression they would smoke wires live. I would jump at a chance to hear them do these tunes live in a biker/hessian bar somewhere in the sketchy part of a humid, southern town. I believe I hear the kind of chemistry evolving that could result in some crushing future releases, and I'm gonna keep listenin' to this one until then. There are enough high spots on this one to make it a keeper, and I expect the next release to be even heavier. - Glenn Tillman.
