(excerpt from) Birdmen reunion brings back memories

Steve Janiak @ the PatioDevil to Pay built up a nice head of steam through their set, starting out slow and lumbering, but eventually getting everyone's head bobbing by the time they closed with "Valley of the Dogs". Not being a die-hard metal fan myself, DTP is always a treat for me because they are just flat out good musicians. Steve Janiak's range never fails to impress, and the band plays well-constructed metal riffs that are about as danceable as the genre gets. At one point, there was a head-banging couple in the middle of the dance floor performing an awkward, but endearing pas de deux, while Janiak sang about "Working all day, til you're bought and sold." Just like mom and dad.
